Cake Expectations...

The Victoria sponge, orange flavour fairy cakes and even the cookies, went down a storm with the builders.   Phew!

I had a little bit of a lie in this morning (7.30am woo hoo!) then remembered the lift installers were coming so had to get showered and dressed at warp speed as didn't want them arriving and me in my pjs!  Thankfully they didn't arrive till 9am.  I made them coffee then left them to get on with it whilst I turned my attention to making butter cream for my cakes.

Alan woke up in a very good mood.  He's accepted he won't get into the pool till the weekend and is now beside himself in anticipation and really looking forward to it.

David arrived home in time for our meeting with the builder, architect and surveyor.  Coffee was poured, the cake was cut and the meeting commenced.

We had a feeling that there would be a delay in the architect issuing the practical completion certificate as there's a couple of jobs that need to be a little bit further on (delay in supplier delivery) but we are all hopeful it will be issued by Monday next week.  This was the final progress meeting though and we all agreed that it felt like hardly any time since we'd got together for the first one.

When we finished our meeting, we called the rest of the guys in to help themselves to the goodies.  This included the two guys fitting the lift, who were astounded to be offered home baking.  I think they thought this was a regular occurrence and that I've been spoiling our builders.  I didn't put them right ;-))

After that meeting, it was straight into a meeting with the pool specialist who was officially commissioning the pool and going over the running and maintenance of it with us.  He stressed that this was just a short intro where he'd go over everything at once, but reassured us he would be back in a couple of weeks to go over it all again and make sure we are happy and fully up to speed on what we need to do.    Thank goodness, as five minutes in and my brain was mush!   Thankfully David was paying attention.  I'm sure it will all make sense eventually!

The good news is the pool is now ready for use!   He had the cover off it and the blast of heat now when you open the door into the pool, is powerful.  Two minutes in the humidity and my hair turned into wire wool!

The lift guys will be back in the morning and by this time tomorrow I will be able to get upstairs!  The lift is in and working, just needs tweaking and made pretty.  At the moment the back is open and all the scary electronics are on view.  I'll be happier when that's all covered up and I don't have to think about how it actually works, just enjoy the fact it gets me upstairs.

When I hear this song in the future, it will transport me right back to this time in my life as I can't stop listening to it.  It sounds fantastic full volume in the pool room :-))

PS The icing on the fairy cakes is such a mess because I gave away my cake decorating tools and icing nozzles about a month ago as I hadn't used them in years.  Of course as happens every time I get rid of something i no longer deem useful, I end up needing it within a few weeks.  Sod's Law in action!
