Cottingley Fairy House

This morning's walk took us through Cottingley Woods so finding a fairy house here is perhaps appropriate if any of you know of the story of the Cottingley Fairies. http://hoaxes.org/photo_database/image/the_cottingley_fairies/
They made a film about it some years ago and my next door neighbour was an extra in it.

We climbed passed the Folly with a good deal of brightness filtering through the trees but when we crossed the fields to the houses where this little gem is found it was terrible wet and muddy. Not surprising when you consider the dreadful weather we had last night and that wasn't the storm that's forecast for tomorrow (storm Doris).

Part of the attraction of using this walk today is they have made some proper steps to make the entrance to the woods more accessible. Some years ago they fenced off all but the narrow path down to the stream and bridge which resulted in it becoming a slippery slide of mud in the winter with no options but to hang onto the barbed wire fence! Much better though there is still a quagmire on the flat bit between the two flights of steps. Perhaps they'll  do something with that too as once your boots are muddy you then pick up the sandy gravel from the steps. Enough moaning, spotting this little house was worth all the mud.

( Stay safe U.K. Blippers if Doris materialises tomorrow)
