Gin and Bear it...

Backblip

Nothing of note happened today until 6.50pm when the taxi we'd booked to whisk us to our favourite local Deli/cafe for a gin tasting night with dinner, didn't show up!

David ended up driving us down, thinking he'd call the taxi driver from the restaurant to make sure he was coming to pick us up.  Tried numerous times but all the calls went straight to voicemail.  Very odd.

Frank, the restaurant owner, came over to say hello and asked if we were looking forward to trying the gins and David explained he'd have to drive home so wouldn't be able to have any.

"Don't be daft," said Frank.  "I'll run you up the road!"  We were gobsmacked! We tried to decline but he wouldn't hear of it.  This is why I love living in a small(ish) community and having a favourite place to eat :-)))

So, given Frank's lovely offer, you can see David enjoyed the tasting.  This was the second sample.  Rhubarb and ginger gin with prosecco.  The first drink was neat Edinburgh gin and we had to guess the botanicals.  Good fun.  We also had Edinburgh gin with tonic and a slice of orange peel (lovely) a cocktail with Edinburgh gin, creme de cassis and a blackcurrant and a plum and vanilla gin on the rocks for dessert.  All absolutely delish!

I should point out that we had food too, not just alcohol!

David was a bit dubious at the start when we arrived and discovered that apart from Frank, there was only one other man there but he soon got in the swing of it.  Although by the end of the night he did officially declare women as being the loudest, screechiest creatures on the planet.

Going by the noise level in the restaurant, I couldn't disagree.  :-))
