Art Deco

My lovely friend Mary treated me to a late birthday celebration this evening. We met for a meal in a local pub first and then went on to the delightful Rex cinema in Berkhamsted. This building was saved from demolition about 10 years ago and restored in its original Art Deco style. It is a lovely place, spacious seats and comfortable with no popcorn in earshot. You may take in your glass of wine or cheese and biscuits though. The blip is of one of the lights in the auditorium. Stylish.

We saw a superb film called Hidden Figures which is about three coloured women who were significant in the race to get the first American in space. A beautiful story and based on truth of segregation, racism and determination. All the women are very old but still alive.

Great evening and we met another friend in the pub afterwards before heading home.
