Sundown Adventureland

Can you spot the curmudgeonly balding old chap sitting next to the slightly  well worn character with dubious dress sense?

It was our daughter's birthday today and we had an outing to Sundown Adventureland - which is a toddler / child friendly 'theme' park near to Lincoln. There were four adults and one 2 year old (who got in free!)!

It is a lovely place and we have been going there since our daughter was about the same age as our granddaughter is now  (over 30 years!) - we lived in Lincoln at the  time and one of my work colleagues told me about it.

It doesn't have huge mechanical rides but has lots of themed play areas based around nursery rhymes and fairy tales, with lots of small wooden houses for the kids to run around and climb in. There is also a 'wild west street', a big wooden fort and a smugglers' cove with big pirate ships to climb up. The kids love it as they can run around inside the buildings which are not easy for adults to get in! They have some huge sand play pit areas too.

There are a few gentle rides - again based around themes (wild west, Robin Hood, old Macdonald's farm etc. etc.

It has grown over the years and they are always adding new bits - but some of the old faithful stuff is still there - which is great as our daughter still remembers them.

Our granddaughter had a great time (on her mummy's birthday) and was almost falling asleep when we left.

We popped back home (only an hour's drive!) to take the dog out for walk - and then we went to collect our son and we met up with our daughter and family again for a meal out.

Back home around 9:30 pm...glass of wine and ready for bed!g
