It's magic Jim but not as we know it....

Avery good evening of close-up magic courtesy of our friend and former colleague Chris Wood and his close-up magic showwhich featured Chris (as above) with Michael Vincent and Danny Grew. The point about close-up magic was that you're there, in front just a few yards from the magician so it's all in the skill of the performer rather than watching from a distance wondering what jiggery-pokery is going on.

There were two performances going on in the room at any one time, we stayed where we were for the whole show with the performers moving between tables. A whole range of tricks from cards to ropes, money, bottles and sleeves, glass and ball, all of which were performed flawlessly.

We've known Chris for 17 years, he was a colleague from Greenwich who's been a performer for years but since leaving his last job with London Grid for Learning has turned back to his first love. While working with him in Greenwich he would be performing tricks at any opportunity. We invited him to my retirement do, not as the magician, but he couldn't resist entertaining the guests throughout the evening. When he wasn't performing magic he was running a musical quiz.

We had hoped that more people from the former ICT team in Greenwich would have been able to attend. As it was, there were just 4 of us out of over a dozen. Next time we'll try somewhere in London. If you get the chance, go and see his show: you'll be amazed, entertained and laugh a lot.

I was talking to his colleague Michael Vincent about photography and mentioned Blip. He downloaded the app there and then and signed up. His username is fujiwarrrior
