Springtime Comes to the Barrens

It was amazingly mild out, and I didn't even need a jacket for our morning stroll up to the gamelands. The snow is melted in the Scotia Barrens, and the spring peepers are peeping their fool heads off. You'd think there were millions of them from the volume of it!

The amphibians themselves are wily little cusses, though. When you go looking for them, they play hide-and-seek, and it's hard to find them. When you walk away, the song picks up again. Louder and louder: full of joy. It is the lullaby of spring.

The soundtrack: Donovan, with The Lullaby of Spring.
