After our discussion about GPS yesterday - many thanks to all those who contributed wisdom or professed none.

Most said they preferred maps, but recognised that there were occasions when they could be unwieldy .    Others said why not download from OS onto a smart phone.   The difficulty seems to be that the operation of mobile phones depends on signal from masts, while the GPS goes straight to satellites.    It is possible to download for offline use - but problems arise when you try to move around out of the initially chosen area, and much of the useful functionality disappears.

It was lucky that Tiso's was just a minute or two from the crematorium where the funeral service of a lovely neighbour was being held.   (A secular event.   For me, as you might expect, a bit bleak and hopeless.   But I accept that this is the answer many reach out for in their needy hour.   I really won't make a detailed analysis - but when God, heaven, prayer and the life beyond all get a mention, one wonders what's going on.....)

Anyway, it meant I could go have a look in Tiso.   This seems the best option.    More research needed though....
