Hill farming in Cumbria

Today I did a pre-walk for one of my festival walks. This one starts in the hamlet of West Hall and wanders around the farms in the locality for about 10 miles. Nick and Kevin were my very able back-ups for the walk.

We got on well and talked about all the things that might happen and how we would tackle these "problems". It was a rather grey and cold day, but we still had good views across to the Lake District.

Here is the farmer from Spadeadam Farm leading some of his sheep. They were very interested in the sack of food on the quad bike. This group are 1st years ewes, so not pregnant.

En route, we passed a lot of very new lambs.

Tonight it will be Only Connect.
