What Has This To Do With.........

...............The beach?

Absolutely nothing - but I will come back to it (get the tissues ready to wipe away the tears).

A disabled friend of mine  (used to run a youth hostel for those of you who have followed me for a while) has taken up model making with pebbles and driftwood etc.
Since we are going up to see him at the weekend I thought SWMBO and I would take PD to the beach and see if we could find some driftwood.

So off we trotted to Seacliff Beach almost next to Tantallon Castle both of which have quite a history.
I'm not sure if The Four Horsemen Of The Apocolypse were involved but the old, half naked guy wasn't taking any chances and left the beach the hard way!

I went the (slightly) easier way to take some pictures of what is reputed to be the smallest harbour in Scotland.
PD spent time contemplating how hard it must have been to carve it out in 1890 using a steam engine and compressed air.
I quite liked the winding gear and its proximity to Tantallon and the Bass Rock when using  a 200mm lens.

There was no driftwood on the beach - it looked like the multitude of beach party fires had seen to that.
I did however find a mummified frog ............... No - wait! -- it was just a rock!

So we left to go and find lunch.

But not before having to stop and allow a few of the world's most suicidal birds to wander across the road!

We stopped for lunch at the Smeaton garden center and tearoom in East Linton (which is dog friendly) where we were serenaded by the Robin (amongst others).
Or maybe he was trying to distract us from his buddy who was enjoying an early afternoon tea.

On the way home SWMBO phoned her sister to see if she was in for a natter. She was. We warned her that we had PD with us and she said the choas that would arise between him and her two dos would fit in just fine with the workmen doing their conservatory.
THIS was the chaos!

It was she who showed us the subject of the blip.
She knitted it (yes - it was knitted) as a jacket for herself but it didn't quite fit her (she is a well built lass) so she thought she would wash it and 'shrink it slightly' to fit a teenage niece.
As you can see, it turned out baby sized ........ and like really thick felt ...... with no give or stretch at all.
Any child it was put on would never be able to bend its arms!
It is like a brick!
We nearly wet ourselves - and yes! ... there were tears of laughter.
