Life in Sunny Dubai

Solemn

That's what today is for millions of people around the world... Good Friday... G & I have been to two services today. Not something we would normally do, it just happened that way this year.

The first was at our regular church which was fine but I really struggle to get my head around people "celebrating" Good Friday.

The second service was with the Salvation Army in a very busy part of town - where all the churches are - so despite leaving 35 minutes early for a very short journey, we only just made it. The service had to be delayed though as many people were late because of traffic. The service here was much more akin to what I am used to for this day.

I loved this display at the Norwegian Seaman's Mission. So simple and effective, and you can just about see a crown of thorns. The other thing I've always wanted to capture is the tapestry in the background. It is so interesting.

Drove out to Jumeirah just to have our favourite spiced tea and then home for a meal and to watch The Robe... something G likes to do on Good Friday.
