Portrait of a Protea

This is a close-up of a Protea, the national plant of South Africa. I took the photo in the absolutely beautiful Kirstenbosch, Cape Town's botanical gardens.

We went there on the way back from Hout Bay, where we had been on a boat to see seal island. So many seals! I was trying so hard to get a picture of them jumping out of the water but they were too sneaky to get a decent one.

In the evening we went to Jimmy The Fish for Courtney's Grandpa's birthday. We had pizza, it was pretty awesome.
