Arizona Dreamin’

Earl Weaver?

Cal Ripken, Jr.?  Naw.  It's not a Baltimore  Oriole, it's a Hooded Oriole.  I do miss watching Earl kick dirt over home plate and Cal hitting in the clutch. (I have always loved baseball!)

None for me today, though.  It's still all about the enormous Sawmill wildfire, which continues to burn, pretty much out of control.  It was always suspected that the cause was man-made.  Turns out a man was firing at explosive targets on state land Sunday morning. Most states prohibit this practice, but not in dumb-butt Arizona.

It was 7 percent contained Tuesday night as a multi-agency crew of 360 battled the wildfire, which the Green Valley News reports has spread to 22,000 acres. Fire crews will likely begin using air tankers today. The planes were grounded Tuesday because of high winds.  The fire began in Pima County, spread into Santa Cruz and is now affecting Cochise County as well.

Edit:  At 1 pm the size was upgraded to 40,000 freaking acres (162 km2/63 mi2). It's now officially frightening for a wider population and property . As far as I can tell, it's the 2nd largest wildfire in the country at the moment.

Check out the extras.  I got permission from the photographer, Anne Spicer, to use them as extras only. Cool, excellent  photos.
