Pretty Corner, Sheringham

It was my turn to get up and make tea this morning. A lie in until 8 was enough, and after tea in bed we got up to the sun at last coming out. In years gone by, we were always up at 5am on May Day to watch the Morris Dancers dance the sun up in the picnic field at Wandlebury. I was reminded of this by my Facebook 'memories', but having not done it for the past 2 years, this year is now the new norm.

After breakfast Jon and I took Bracken to Pretty Corner for a really long walk. It was nice for all of us. At one point we spent a long time trying to identify the squeaky song of a particular pair of birds, which were very small, noisy and following us from tree to tree. If you look carefully you can see them. Jon knows his birds, but I am not an expert. Plus my eyesight isn't that good for small things in the distance. Unfortunately Jon didn't have his binoculars on him. I took this picture in the hope of zooming in later to find out what they are.

Once home, Jon had college work to do, so I went back in the loft to see how Mollie and Henry were doing. Reasonably well is the answer, although easily distracted. They take after me in that respect!

After lunch and a few hours work, we all went in to Sheringham for an ice cream and 2p arcade playing. Don't worry, I'm not addicted. The town was quite busy, and many shops were open. Sadly one very old established newsagent is closing down. They had a sale of 75% off everything, although not much was left. I bought a few bits - particularly pleased with a pack of sheets of blank labels. More for my card making labels.

Home at 4 ish and Mollie had started a new (charity shop buy) wasgij, so we all set to work on that. All except Jon that is. Luckily he still had work to complete - he hates jigsaw puzzles.

Dinner then a game of Pandemic. We lost - or won with a tiny bit of cheating. Good to see a facebook friend of mine also has the game, and is finding it equally as addictive. It is definitely one up from Monopoly and Cluedo....maybe 2 or 3 up in fact! So good to spend time interacting
with the family as a whole, which this game makes you do. It is a game where you either all win, or all lose, so no arguments or sulks at the end!!

Had a nice chat to Daniel tonight, and wish he was closer. He seems happy. Don't take your friends and family for granted, our time on this planet is short, and we must make the most of every minute.

The birds? They areSiskins, in case you were wondering.
