Japanese quince

I've always been in two minds about this particular shrub. On the one hand it's always smothered in flowers that last for ages, but on the other, it's a curious salmon pink colour that doesn't really fit with the overall colour scheme in the garden, which is more towards blues and whites at this time of year. But it seems to love the spot it's in, and flowers so freely that I think it's best to enjoy it for being what it is, and be glad that it's so generous with its charms. It's a slow grower though, and has two vigorous clematis to compete with. So far it remains undaunted.
