Chiaroscuro

For a while in the morning, as the sun rises and then appears to move from east to west, the border against the fence is dark, but the flowers catch the bright sunlight. This renders some magical chiaroscuro effects, as with this allium .

Using a low ISO and a high shutter speed enables the capture. Once the sun has climbed over, the magical moment is gone.

Open Church was well attended this morning. Basil and I went along to leave flyers for the forthcoming Leicester Bach Choir concert. Joy was there, recovering well from her second knee replacement. Others came and went.

I had thought that once the rain had passed over, we would see the heat return, but instead it's been cloudy all afternoon.

I went to meet Kat and George at Burleigh Springs Spa on Loughborough University campus early in the afternoon. Kat seemed thrilled at the prospect of her pre natal massage which took 75 minutes. She really did look glowing and relaxed afterwards. George and I went in the pool, sauna and jacuzzi in the meantime.

We finished with lunch at the bar. Generous helpings and I can recommend the sweet potato chips. A lovely afternoon.

FA cup on TV at the moment. Arsenal currently leading 1-0.
