Now, as I see it......

Grantchester

We had a drive over to Grantchester today for lunch at the Orchard Tea Rooms, in the grounds of the house lived in by the war poet Rupert Brooke. It was a lovely day so very busy, but they do seem to have a fairly good system going so we didn't wait long for our food. The actual house where Brooke lived is private but has some beautiful sculptures in the garden including (that we could see through the gate) Brooke himself, a flock of sheep, some geese and an acrobatic young girl doing a handstand. On a tiny island in an old mill race off the River Cam which runs past the house was this lovely horse sculpture, which I assume was metal but had the look of having been made from charcoaled wood. I've added an extra of the view back over the river; the island with the horse is just jutting in to the right of the shot.
