Meadows Festival-Day 1

This is the little lacquered jewellery box His Lordship bought for me at the Meadows Festival this afternoon as we strolled round in the sunshine.
It seemed that the whole of south Edinburgh was there, out enjoying the weather. My extra image shows an overview.

Most of the stalls were filled with the kind of tat that clog up shelves and cupboards in people's houses and which charity shops get as donations when there is a clear out.
This box was from a stall belonging to 'The Nomad's Tent', a shop nearby selling beautiful Eastern rugs and artefacts. Over the years, from the shop we have bought exquisite things redolent of Eastern mysticism, from Afghanistan, India and Pakistan.

Where this box originated, I don't know, but it is so colourful with its red velvet interior and a mirror inthe lid that it caught my eye immediately. It may stay in the Dower House or it may be given as a present to some lucky recipient.
