Orienteering in Yewdale

We've had a smashing day.  We drove over to the Lake District this morning to orienteer in Yewdale between Ambleside and Coniston.  The  courses were on top of the fells so we had a thirty minute walk uphill alongside Tilberthwaite Ghyll and Quarries, which took me back a considerable number of years to when we ran school camps at Coniston and would use the Ghyll and quarries for gorge scrambling and climbing.

I enjoyed my course very much.  I made few errors, perhaps just dropping too low on the long leg which meant a slow climb back up to my control.  The views were stunning and I took my blip on the walk back to the valley from the finish.  I'm exactly half way down the results on the Green course but third in my age class so that'll do nicely.

The news is full of the horror of London and our thoughts are with the victims and their families.
