Paradise for petrol heads

We were at Mercedes-Benz World today with the family. For his 50th birthday treat we had given son J to a Driving Experience which consisted of 30 minutes extreme off road driving and 30 minutes on a track in a fast car. He had such a great time, made all the better because he was able to have George in the car with him. He had an excellent co driver who taught him a lot about good driving, even though he has been driving since he was eighteen.
Mercede-Benz World is not only a series of driving tracks, it is also a very glossy showroom and Mercedes museum, so we spent time looking at all the cars, thinking 'if only......' The boys sat in the cars, trying all the buttons and switches, Jake quite knowledgably as he is now a driver. (See extra)
After all this excitement we lunched at a steakhouse. It is quite amazing the size of the steaks the young can demolish, just like we used to when we were their age. It has been a happy day with our family, who have now gone home to start the new week, George with very many GCSEs and J and M to look forward to more birthday celebrations tomorrow. We are joining them for a barbecue on Tuesday.
It is all birthday celebrations this year!
