An ordinary life....

Blue Skies to Grey...

Our bedroom window is always open and when I woke up this morning I immediately felt the drop in temperature.  Not that I was complaining, I like coolness :-)

Relaxed morning before heading off to see my stepdad John and his partner Norma and take them out for lunch as a Father's Day treat.  We went to Garvies in Milngavie and had a very lovely lunch.

Afterwards we went back to Norma's for coffee and more blethers.  This pair of sprightly 80 year olds (well Norma is 80, John's her toyboy as he won't be 80 till November :-) are just back from two weeks in a lovely villa in Spain, where rumour has it there was some topless sunbathing taking place on the roof terrace of the villa!

Norma's had a bad cold since they returned (blaming it on aeroplane germs) but there's no stopping her and she's booked her Pilates class for tomorrow and water aerobics for Friday.  Honestly, there is no stopping her, she is amazing.

John was his usual cheery self, firing out his usual blush-inducing jokes at every opportunity.  He could give Billy Connolly a run for his money.  It's always great fun to spend time in their company.  They are love and laughter personified.

All too soon it was time to head home and as we got nearer the sky got darker and darker and the air heavier and heavier.   We were just in and settled when there was a distant rumble of thunder and the heavens opened.   Five minutes later we were in the midst of a full storm.  Thunder, lightening, lights flickering and the rain pelting down.   Actually thought we might lose power at one point.  Thankfully the storm moved on before it could do any real damage, although two fire engines did fly past with lights flashing and sirens blazing so I wonder if there was a lightening strike locally.

So hard to believe that at the time this was all happening, last night at the same time we were sitting in the garden in beautiful sunshine, enjoying a BBQ.   Oh the joys of a Scottish summer.

After our lovely lunch, neither of us had an appetite for dinner, so we just had hot buttered toast with mackerel and some melon.   Very healthy.   Although we ruined it a little while later by having coffee and a scone.   Oops! :-))

Can't believe this is the longest day already!  186 sleeps till Santa.  You're welcome ;-)
