Rebuilding

Sunday 2nd July 2017

A pretty bog-standard Sunday, with church in the morning followed by our usual roast lunch at the New Times. This was spoiled by two toddlers on the next table, there with their Mum, Dad and Nanny to celebrate Nanny's birthday. But far from poor Nanny being made to feel loved and the centre of attention on her special day, she looked unhappy and embarrassed at the appallingly bad behaviour of her two grandsons. They were so shrill and naughty that the whole family had to leave without treating Nanny to a dessert. Mum muttered to me that she would never have let her children get away with behaving like that, and I can most definitely vouch for this. We have a long-running joke that wherever we go, there's always a whinging child following us around just to get on our nerves and spoil our fun!

The petunias I planted in the two concrete urns have grown so much, and are a hit with the bees and hover flies. They're easy to look after and look lovely tumbling over the sides of the container, so I shall definitely plant more next year perhaps in a different colour scheme. I couldn't resist putting another gorgeous rose in Extras too.
