Marjorie's ramblings

I drove to Newcastle today for my regular mental health review, then on to see Julie. She has been in her new house for a few weeks now and has really stamped her style on the place. There are pictures, embroideries, textiles, ornaments everywhere, and they are all placed carefully.

Here is just one small corner. The picture was made by a friend. I love the way Julie has chosen the cards and the yellow vase (a gift of Murano glass) to stand on the chest of drawers beneath.

We had coffee and a good natter. Our original plan was a trip into the city centre for an exhibition, but it was tipping down with rain. (It still is now.) Julie was also waiting for the builder to come and he was stuck in traffic. She managed to pull together an excellent impromptu lunch for us.

The builder arrived in the early afternoon. He was drenched but had stopped to help an elderly man ("in his 60s or 70s"!) to change a wheel. He could not just drive by when he saw that the man was struggling. You can forgive a workman for arriving late in such circumstances.

Home and more photo editing. I've promised photos for Stepping Stones by this evening............
