Edersee - Rehbach

After a long lie in and some pain killers, we were enjoying a late breakfast in the sun. It was hot!
First task was to drive into town to buy a new toilet seat. My father broke the old one in the night ..... ! The whisky must have been too much :).
However, no further losses and or breakages and no serious injuries.
When we came back Neil and I went for a walk through the little village called Rehbach. It is mainly holiday houses and a big camping site. Further more there is a fishery and smokehouse where you can get locally smoked trout and eel. The Edersee is a barrier lake and the water supports the Weser shipping. This means the water levels vary during the year. From autumn to  spring the water is usually very low, sometimes almost down to the original river "Eder".
The dam was destroyed in the second world war by British bombers. More information here
For July the water was already very low.
We had our bath suits and went to the small marina and enjoyed the sun.
We also went for a swim. The water was beautiful.
Then we continued our walk and went back to the house. In the meantime first visitors had arrived and Christina served coffee and cake and another bottle of champagne was opened.
I stayed clear of alcohol! I also volunteered to drive to the restaurant in the evening.
At 7 pm we drove to Bad Wildungen and had a lovely dinner with 4 of Hermann's friends.
We were home before midnight and sat a wee while outside before we all retired.
It was a lovely relaxed day.

The blip shows the small marina at Rehbach. You can see that the water level is already quite low. This means a lot of people are already taking their boats out of the water. Early this year. The crane doing that is also in Rehbach. You can see the operation in the extras.
The last picture is a bench I know since I was a child. I remember sitting there with my best friend and playing our guitars and singing. We were about 12 ......
