If you can't beat them...

Biological Control.

Katkatkat had an appointment in the city this morning, so Clickychick and I went along with her to pretend to be tourists.  We started off with a coffee and some time with Katkatkat in a cafe near the Royal Mile.

When Katkatkat went for her appointment we wandered along the Royal mile heading down hill.  We did go as far as Holyrood but didn't visit.  On the way back CC had to nip into a "rock shop" (no not the sweet kind) to get a fix of Gem Stones and Jewellery.  She ended up enthusing to the girl behind the desk about all things rock and reminiscing about the days when she ran the Gem Den.

In the afternoon we went back to the allotment.   Things progressed nicely, KKK can be really proud of how she is moulding her space to what she wants.  While working around and moving some wood I spotted this Ladybird and close beside it an empty Larval case.  It is nice to assume the adult had recently hatched but it is probably just coincidence.

KKK had a while ago released some Ladybird Larvae on to her Rhubarb which was infested with blackfly.  I have heard about this form of biological control before but never actually witnessed it.  Suffice it to say the Rhubarb is clear of fly and adult ladybirds were spotted on the next door allotment where the Broad Beans have a heavy infestation of Blackfly.
