Timber stack

We have revised our assessment of yesterday's cycling exertions on the basis of having endured today one of toughest rides ever on our tandem.

Our route started at Lochgilphead and ended 48 miles later a short distance north of Oban. The main challenge came in the (long) middle part of the journey as we climbed the roller coaster of hills on the north side of Loch Awe. They seemed to go for miles and miles and miles. This is the first and last time that we will ever cycle along that road!

We did, however, enjoy lunch (outside again) in the Rowan café in Dalavich, and will be telling the tale of our heroic journey for months (years?) to come to anyone who can bear to listen to us.

Our journey ended at the house of Mr hazelh's aunt and uncle in Benderloch. After taking a long bath each, then loading up the washing machine with four days' worth of cycling gear, the four us popped out for a lovely dinner at the Old Inn at Appin.

Tomorrow there will be more cycling, but the distances will be shorter and the terrain much gentler...

I blipped this timber stack half way up one of the peaks of our route. The profile of the ride itself can be seen in the extra.

Exercise today: 48 miles of very strenuous tandem riding.
