Shakespeare in the Rain

Despite the rain, the outdoor performance of Shakespeare's play, A  Comedy of Errors', went ahead as planned. The weather definitely kept some people away as the audience was not as big as usual - a great shame as the actors were superb. It was performed by the Chamberlain's Men, an all male group who tour the country - no actors were female in Shakespeare's day so these parts were all played by men.

The troupe had had their van stolen during the week containing all their costumes, staging, lights and props! They'd had to cancel a couple of performances while they scrambled around begging and borrowing more stuff. We wouldn't have noticed any difference as the acting was stunning and carried the audience along.

So here you have a very damp Waddesdon but, being British, we are well used to wet summer evenings and life goes on while the brollies go up! It was an excellent evening....Waddesdon Manor, Shakespeare and a glass of wine...can life get any better?
