If you can't beat them...

Free Spirit.

Penrith Show day and the outlook was not good.  It had poured down all night and was still raining.  Torrentially at times.  Surely nobody would be daft enough to venture out to an agricultural show!  Fortunately a few hardy souls began to appear despite the downpour.

By early afternoon the weather had dried and we even got the occasional period of warm sunshine.  More people arrived but not up to the usual crowds.  Displays got going in the main ring and I nipped out for some shots.  I could have used the show jumping, concorde d'elegance, heavy horses etc but I decided on the display by Free Spirit.

He began his show with a pair of Spanish horses dancing in the style of the Spanish Riding School Vienna.   He explained how he got the horses to respond to sound signals, he even spoke to them in Spanish.  The pair of white horses have featured in Game of Thrones and a number of other programs including masquerading as unicorns.  A black Stallion he owns and trains appears in the Lloyds Bank adverts.  The show's finale is the peregrine shown here finishing its stoop by flying under the horse.

That was too quick to catch so I settled for the Peregrine on his wrist.
