Palette Princesses at Lynn's on Lummi Island

What a great day. In the morning I baked my usual Trader Joe's croissants to take to book club. Helen picked me up at 9:45 and we picked up Donna and Cathy at the Fred Meyer parking lot. Helen drove us to the Lummi Island ferry and we took the short trip across to the island.

We were very early so we decided to drive around a bit. We came across a lovely flower stand and decided to buy some flowers for Lynn who was hosting the group today. Charlotte, whose stand it was, came out and we all had a lovely talk. Donna asked if she could see Charlotte's garden and we all were treated to a beautiful garden filled with flowers. I was very impressed with how well kept it all was, and how beautiful.

By the time we finished talking it was time to go to Lynn's and so we did. We met Pat, Lynn, Erin, Heidi, Nancy, another Lynn, Gayle, Sue and Lyz who had arrived earlier than we did. We lunched on the yummy salads brought by everybody, sipped various lovely wines and bubbly Italian sodas, talked, even discussed the book. Then Lynn brought out a beautiful cake with flowers and sparkles on it that a neighbor had made for us. It was delicious and continued the theme of the day, beautiful flowers.

At the end of the meeting Helen, Donna, Cathy and I stayed longer than the rest and Lynn took us to meet Thured, a wonderful artist who makes boxes and other arts from papers she makes herself. We were all delighted to see her work. I spotted a small paper with a beautiful design drawn with iridescent paints and commented on how much I liked it whereupon Thured gave it to me. What a happy surprise. I love it and Lynn said she would frame it for me. How sweet they both were.

Our last visit before taking the ferry back to the mainland was to the community gardens where both Thured and Lynn have plots. The day began and ended with beautiful flowers. And in the middle, a yummy orange cake with white frosting and fresh flowers. Couldn't have been a better day.
