Corbridge Chamber Music Festival

We can't believe that the annual festival is here again. It's a weekend of sublime music played by wonderful musicians to the highest standard. This is the 19th year of the festival, but it is the 25th anniversary year for the Gould piano trio.

If you viewed yesterday's blip, you would see Mum putting the final stitches into a card of ribbon embroidery to give to the trio tonight. Here you see her with Alice Neary ('cello), Lucy Gould (violin) and Ben Frith (piano). If you have never heard them, then make sure you go if they play near you.

The day started with uncertainty. Mum developed a migraine and was unwell all morning.

She rallied in the afternoon, and was determined to be at the first concert and the reception afterwards.

The trio were good sports in having their photo taken. I have a few of them all smiling to the camera, but I like this because Mum is laughing spontaneously and is clearly enjoying herself.

I still have some of the programme to put on the web tonight for our festival, but the printed programme is ready for me to tell the printer to press the button on Monday. That's a relief.

Of yes, we heard Louise Farrenc's Clarinet Trio, the Mendelsshon Piano Trio in C minor and Webers clarinet quintet. All were written within 40 years of each other but showed very different musical styles. The Mendelsshon won hands down for me. So deep and complex. I was transported.
