Gabriola Island - Day 1

Our first visit to this beautiful and laid back island was a hit!  We had to drive an hour and a bit to get to the Tsawwassen ferry terminal and then sailed on 2 ferries to get there.  However, the long journey was well worth it as our son, his wife and 2 littles were there to greet us.  Upon arriving and after unpacking our stuff, we immediately set out for one of the beaches within walking distance of where we were all staying.  A serene and winding little road that paralleled the ocean shoreline took us out to a point.  Blackberries were growing in abundance along the side of the road and we ate our fill of the delicious ripe berries.  I think our grandsons hands and mouth were rarely blackberry free the entire week!  You gotta see him in the extra...so cute!

It was very hazy and smokey as you can see in this main image and also in the extra as the sun began to set.  The sun's orange glow cast an eerie colour that sparkled as it bounced off the water.  

A very good first day!
