Yes, this was captured with the lens I was so disappointed with last Monday. 
The camera shop technician told me this morning that the latest Sony a7R camera firmware update did the trick; it enables this Sony 100-400mm lens to 'talk' to the camera. Phew!
Do go Large - the detail on those tiny birds is amazing.
