Theatrical Jumper

At least, that's what I think he is, Salticus scenicus, the jumping spider. A fellow that usually gives me the jitters.  They are known for spotting you watching them, raising their heads and jumping, hence their Latin name meaning theatrical jumper.

Luckily, this one was busy pulling its prey back into a little hollow in the dead branch that never has anything on it (apart from Little Dog).  Today, it called me again and given I'd just said to Little Dog that I'd love to find a jumping spider, I was rather pleased I listened.

Many thanks to Osuzanna for hosting TinyTuesday with the theme this week of Mystery Macro - which I haven't made officially, unless you want to try and ID the captured fly ;)
