The rose...

... that was never intended to be a blip.

I had another idea for a blip this evening, but things didn't work out as planned. Maybe tomorrow.

Earlier today I noticed a couple of roses we've had in a vase for about a week might make interesting photo subjects. So, I took the vase outside into the subdued sunlight, stood it on a box and started taking some shots. An unexpected burst of wind suddenly sent flowers and vase into orbit, landing on concrete. Surprisingly, the glass remained intact and the the flowers were restored to the vase.

I was experimenting with this particular bloom to keep the centre in focus with a pretty drastic drop in focus towards the edges, where the petals were deteriorating. It came in handy at the last minute this evening.
