Charmouth

It was the last full day of our holiday in Dorset.  I went for my last holiday run, but had to make a slight detour as the field I have been running though had a herd of young cattle in it.  I didn’t fancy tangling with them, so avoided the field.  We had some shopping to do, so we headed to Bridport and had a wander along the High Street, buying a big bag of stuff from a wonderful bakery that A and M had recommended to us.  We then went for a browse in the bookshop, where we purchased some reading material.  Next stop was the very well-stocked toy shop, where BB just couldn’t decide what to buy.  He eventually bought a Lego set and a packet of Pokémon cards.  Next stop was a wonderful independent bookshop (which we should have visited first!) – where even  more reading material was purchased.

We stocked up on a few things for our picnic and headed along the coast to Charmouth.  By the time we got there, the weather had turned really grey and windy – so it was another picnic in the car!

We braved the wind and the greyness and went for a walk along the beach.  Once we got going it wasn’t as cold as we thought it was going to be.  We had a good hunt for fossils and came away with a couple of ammonites.  BB was delighted.

Next stop was Lyme Regis, for a couple of last minute purchases.  The weather was pretty dismal by the time we got there.  We did our shopping and headed home to warm up.

As it was the last night in the holiday cottage, I did some tidying and packing while TT sorted out tea.

Here is BB wandering along Charmouth Beach.  The extra is the sign for the hat shop in Bridport.
