Needle work

This blip is for the Community Challenge - What is your hobby?

If you follow my blips you will know I do quite a bit with needles, not my only hobby but perhaps the one that has lasted most consistently through my life.

Over the last three visits to my daughter here in Bristol I have been helping her finish off her patchwork quilt. All the creative hard work is hers but I have done the finishing off. 6 years in the creating and then 5 days of input from me to help her finish it.
It is now finished and in situ on the futon in the baby room.

In the blip you can see a combination of sewn and knitted items. My latest knitting for the babe for which I bought the buttons yesterday;' the baby quilt (I promise not to blip it again) and the dress which gave me the inspiration for this blip as it was hanging from the wardrobe in the bedroom here, I made for Grace when she was small. It is Liberty lawn and hand smocked. Can't remember how old it is but I know she wore it on her 6th birthday.

I tend not to sew much anymore, well Grace has the sewing machine, but I nearly always have knitting on the go. Had I blipped this at home I would have included the tapestry kneeler I'm working on as part of the church sewing group and the cross stitch I started in Scotland back in May. I like something to do when I sit down. Most of my other hobbies are outside of the home except for reading.

Sewing done I had the privilege of accompanying Grace to the hospital this afternoon for a scan. It was wonderful to see though I confess I struggled to make out where and what everything was!

Don't think I'll be stopping knitting and sewing any time soon.
