Venice Canal

After a lazy start to our morning (highlighted by a nearby yellow-legged gull--see the extra) we paid a visit to the nearby  Church of the Frari (blipped yesterday), with its fabulous array of art. My favorite  has always been this triptych by Giovanni Bellini (the Madonna and Child with saints). Leaving at 12:30 I captured this view while crossing the last bridge to our apartment (on the map I've marked the scene, just down from the bridge). Don't miss the approaching gondola.

In the afternoon we went to the campo (square) of San Giacomo dell' Orio (blipped in 2011). The church has many fewer art works than the Frari but it's worth a visit.  The campo is our favorite in Venice; it wraps around the church, with numerous trees, and it's always full of people--especially children after school, as today.
