St James Centre No More

It could only be the offer of a free coffee and cake at John Lewis that would tempt us down the highway of hell that Leith Street has turned into. With the road closed to traffic, it is a privilege that we as pedestrians are still allowed to wend our way through the barricades surrounding a scene of utter devastation to access the store.

Once secure in the eyrie of the café, nursing one coffee for His Lordship, one mug of hot water for me and a half share in the cake, (we certainly know how to push the boat out when needs must), we surveyed the scene below us. The demolition is gathering pace and a mini Grand Canyon has opened up on the site of the old car park. In the blip the bus station remains intact and the corner of upmarket Multrees Walk is just visible round the corner from Café Nero
I do hope we both live long enough to see what goes up over hole.

Then it was on past the Apple Shop with bouncers far out numbering any punters waiting to buy the new IPhone 8 or X, to M&S to purchase Euros and a meal for 2 for £10.
