A Hockney Bonanza

What a day!   A good sleep, finally, and leisurely getting up to bright sunshine in Yorkshire.   Then we headed to Cartwright Hall in Liston Park, a wonderful baroque gallery (extra) with a new exhibition of David Hockney, celebrating his 80th birthday.   It was excellent!  I loved the sign he has at the end of his bed. " get up immediately and get to work!"   Then to Salt's Mill in Saltaire , the old textile mill now a world heritage site, with a good lunch, many shops and all the David Hockney art one can take in one day!   Oh my, I'm in heaven.   :-) So the blip has to be iPad drawings that got me interested in this form of art in the first place.   from his "Arrival of Spring" series of the countryside nearby.
Wendy and Tony were very patient to show us the sights today.  The sun didn't last but we had lots of local views and will be enjoying dinner in their home ( with this view ( extra) from the upstairs window) soon.
