Above And Beyond...

Javea Port

We visited Javea which is split into three parts of Arenal (beach), the old town and port.  The walk around the port area was enjoyable. I spotted some interesting concrete pillars sticking out which reminded me of the old Cardiff Arms Park. On investigating it turned out to be a church, Church of Our Lady of Loreto which was inaugurated in 1967.

A photo of The Old Cardiff Arms Park is here for you to see the similarity! This was built in 1967 and demolished in 1997 for the new Millennium Stadium to be built. Part of the old concrete arms remain over Cardiff Blues stadium that was next door and can still be seen - this was due to a dispute with them and The Welsh Rugby Union over access for the demolision team!

The blip photo is taken inside this striking church; I love the way the light pours in through the windows just under the curved roof. To see my photo of the outside of this church, look at the extra here.

We spent the afternoon on Grandella beach a few miles away - the first time on a beach since we've been here.
