Birthday Walk

Mr K's birthday today.
The Little Misses were so excited to get all his cards, presents and surprises ready this morning. We warmed up pains au chocolat and took them into him in bed with tea, accompanied by a beautiful rendition of Happy Birthday.
Well I say beautiful, I did have to tell them to speed it up a bit at one point because it was more of a dirge!!
They'd made very sweet cards and chosen a very healthy selection of chocolate, biscuits, crystallised ginger, Daim bars, coffee beans, chilli sauce and beer!
Nothing says I love you like heart disease!!!
I took Miss E swimming so Mr K could have a lie in. Ha ha, what a terrible Mummy who can only get to the pool once a year on a special occasion!!
It was great watching her. She's gone up a couple of levels since I last saw her and she's so good!!!
Miss L stayed at home with Mr K. Because it's his birthday and she didn't want him to be on his own!!
The Little Misses had already decided not to go to Harris + Hoole after swimming but go come home so we could all go to Looby Lu's for lunch together instead.
The day took a bit of a downward turn for some reason once we got back. The Little Misses got ready to go out for lunch and then went to play upstairs, Mr K decided he wanted to have lunch at Stowe but didn't tell the Little Misses, he started to look at something on his computer, then he seemed to get annoyed that we were dragging him out, then he got annoyed that no-one was ready, the Little Misses got upset because they were ready and couldn't understand why he was cross, Miss L was distraught because she wanted to go to Looby Lu's rather than Stowe, Miss E got upset because Daddy said his birthday was rubbish, I was furious that he'd said such a bloody stupid thing to a nine year old who just wanted his day to be perfect. And told him so!!
What a harmonious little bunch we were!!
Lunch - eventually - was at Looby Lu's. It was tasty and the Little Misses had a couple of games of chess while we were there. I was pleased to see Miss E helping Miss L by deliberately missing chances to take pieces and  letting Miss L take her pieces, and laughing when she made a mistake rather than getting cross and giving up. She's lovely!
Then it was to Stowe. We had tea and ice cream in the cafe before heading down for a walk round the gardens. It's so beautiful there!!
The Little Misses spent hours walking hand in hand or with their arms round each other, giggling, chatting and lost in their own world. Mr K and I mostly walked around in silence - Birthday or not I was still cross with him!
We were so long walking round the lake that for the first time ever we got locked into the gardens. Thankfully you can open the door from the inside to get out otherwise it would have been a very undignified attempt to scale the ha-ha!
Home to Dominos Pizza for Mr K and the Little Misses, a bath for me and then Strictly.
Miss E came down at about 10.45pm after having a bad dream. We were watching Match of the Day and took her mind of her dream by letting her watch it and explaining  the offside rule (which I illustrated fantastically well with a couple of coasters and the remote control!!)
She watched the Watford game (a 95th minute equaliser for us, woohoo!!!) and I asked would she like to come with me one day. Yes!!!!
I've looked for tickets before and it's always a Catch-22 situation where you can't buy tickets without a ticketing history but how do you get a ticketing history if you can't get tickets?
Anyway I looked tonight and there's availability for the game against Stoke at the end of the month. I'll check with my mum if she wants to come too and get it booked. She used to go with her Grandpa, I used to go with mine, now Miss E will be going with me and her Nana. Fifth generation Hornet!!!
