Pallid Grasshopper

I'm not a bug photographer.  In fact, I really don't like bugs.  They give me the willies.  I have posted an occasional walking stick, scorpion or tarantula.  Grasshoppers aren't scary.  

Grasshoppers should be green and hopping around grass.  That's my opinion.  What I never realized was that their are plenty in the Sonoran Desert.  If this one was on the ground or in the stones I would have never seen it but he had the temerity to have hopped onto the black, mesh patio table. 

I still think if they are going to be called grasshoppers they should be green grass dwellers. The way so many critters otherwise familiar to us  have adapted to the desert will always amaze me.
