Tiny Tuesday Results presented by a Painted Lady

I had thought it was going to be a cloudy morning, perfect for flower photography.  It ended up to be hot and sunny, certainly nothing to complain about in October.  I went back to the dahlia garden anyway, and was greeted there by the gentleman who volunteers to mow the grass around the edges when needed.  He gave me a dahlia lesson, which was fascinating.  This is one of seven dahlia gardens in the country that evaluate the products of new seeds, to determine whether they qualify as new varieties.  The garden obviously gets a lot of care and attention.  He told me that tomorrow they will be harvesting the flowers, to sell at a festival on the grounds.  Four thousand visitors are expected.  I’m glad I got there in time for one more photo session.  Actually, there may be another opportunity this season, since several of the plants still have multiple buds.
Of course I couldn't resist the butterflies.  I believe this is a Painted Lady.  I also saw skippers and even a couple of monarchs.  Thank you BikerBear for hosting Flower Friday!

Now to the important business of Tiny Tuesday and the selection of favorites.  It was a very difficult job, as always.  Thank you to all who participated!  There are many fabulous entries and some are so creative.  I did my best to narrow it down.  The hearts this week go to (in no particular order):

howesruth for a close up action shot of a fly eating a beetle

Tiebreaker for an eye-catching blue butterfly on multicolored grass

Anniemay for the stunning detail of the curves that surround this nut
Lifesjourney for the composition that makes these mushrooms look like a tiny village
WWombat for a superb flower image, straight out of camera

These honorable mentions are also super shots:

DonnaWanna
Sallymair

J4net

Next Tuesday the tag will be TT124.  There will be an optional theme of "pink."  Some of this week's entries were submitted for the TT challenge, as well as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) challenge.  The BCAM challenge is to incorporate the color pink.  We might as well see how many of us can participate in both next week.  Of course tiny/macro images without the theme are also welcome!
