Squinty Houses

Such a wealth of birdlife on the polders and canals around the guesthouse. We set off boldly for a walk round a nature reserve this morning, Eric striding off into the horizontal rain and hurricane force winds as small children got blown off the dijk behind him. Eventually, sense prevailed and we returned to the house to wring out our socks and stuff newspaper in our boots.
Later, we made a trip to the local town. Lovely old defensive gateways, very solid and Dutch-looking, and a fantastic bar on the Nieuw Haven, which reminded me of one in Newhaven ;D
Manu (hi, Manu!) noticed the quirky architecture of the town houses, where some are built with the façade leaning out over the street. Apparently, it's to keep the rain from running down and soaking in...
