NEWCASTLE SKYLINE

I was at the theatre again this afternoon.  This time it was The Tyne Theatre and Opera House to see Geordie The Musical.  The production is a celebration of Geordie heritage and history and tells a  heart-warming tale of North East life and features an array of traditional Northumbrian songs. Its part of the Tyne Theatre and Opera House’s special programme of events to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Grade 1 listed Victorian Opera House. You can see a photo of the theatre in my Extras.

I really enjoyed the show.  The only minus was that two woman sitting in front of me kept taking photos and videos on their phones even though its not allowed.  They were told to stop more than once but kept doing it.  Then they stood up and started clapping and singing.  No idea if they were drunk or just enjoying the show.  Of course no-one behind them could see the stage.  They were told to sit down.  They stormed out.  Unfortunately they came back and started dancing in the aisle and then right in front of the stage.  The show was almost over by this time otherwise I think they would have been ejected.

After the theatre I walked through Chinatown.  See the Chinese Arch in my Extras. I headed for Argos to collect something I had ordered on Ebay.  Then to Tesco for food shopping.

I took my blip shot on the way to the bus.  The building site is where The Newgate Shopping Centre used to be.  There was a hotel, Woolworths and lots of smaller shops.  It was built in the 1960's so ready for a revamp..  They are going to build student accommodation (yet more student accommodation ), a hotel and shops on the site.

Becky and Mike flew out to Portugal this morning.  They are in Lisbon at the moment ready to run The Lisbon Half Marathon tomorrow and later in the week they move on to Porto.

Neils girlfriend was also flying this morning - to Northern Ireland to spend a week with her parents.  Neil had to work today so he is following on Monday.  ( flight is cheaper on Monday than it would have been  tomorrow ).  Neil is here at the moment - came straight from work - and he will be here all day tomorrow.  It will be nice to have him around for a while.
