Lady Chapel, Liverpool Cathedral

What a vast place. This is a side Chapel, viewed from above. A choir and organist rehearsing "I was glad" (Parry, 1902, based on Psalm 122). Amazing to hear that in such a setting. The largest cathedral in the U.K. Designed by Giles Gilbert Scott, Gothic Revival style. Built 1904-1978. Largest organ in the U.K.

We plan to return later in the week, and go up the tower. Also planning to visit the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Later, we had a wander around Sefton Park. Seen better days, but lots of interesting wildlife.

Liverpool observations so far. Lots of brickwork, not enough pedestrian crossings at junctions, too many broken paving stones in the pavements leading to trip hazards. Wading through leaves after the storm yesterday. And so many people smoking as they walk along the street. Not used to that, usually just wee groups of smokers outside pubs back home.
