Thistle-tweaker

It rained all morning. I sat in the laundry room with the door open hoping to capture a wren that I could hear calling. No luck.

When the rain stopped I headed for Lodge Farm but it started again before I got there. I carried on to Longlands hide, Fishers Green. I usually prefer not to include 'hand of man' in my wildlife pics but I'm making an exception for this goldfinch which posed nicely for me. It sort of reminded me of the bird in the Carel Fabritius painting of 1654. That captive goldfinch is perched on a metal rail and has a chain attached to its leg. It's such an enigmatic, melancholy and haunting masterpiece. https://www.frick.org/exhibitions/mauritshuis/605

Today's poem is Rainbow by John Agard. http://www.ipernity.com/blog/hyperbob/71391

This is easy to understand and quite appropriate as there have been a few rainbows about today. I like the simple last verse. :)
