Parade Gloss

I went to the Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome Remembrance Sunday Parade. I was a bit disappointed that the poppy drop planes didn't take off from the airfield as they had done last year but it was was lovely to see the Stampes fly over the airfield and release their flowers.

It was absolutely freezing, I felt sorry for those taking part. A much pierced, civilian, woman bugler started The Last Post but then faltered. It was fantastic how the musical director of A Company Essex ACF ordered his buglers to pick it up immediately and finish it. The young people of the services were beautifully turned out and a credit to their brave forebears. I saw many examples of youngsters being helped to look their best by their elders and superiors. It's the first time I have seen a young woman in a bearskin. (Extras)

Today's poem is There's a certain Slant of light by Emily Dickinson. https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/45723/theres-a-certain-slant-of-light-320

I know exactly what she's on about, how clever to put it into words.
