a lifetime burning

So...

I had to be in Stroud for 12 noon.  Easy enough, leave the office at 10am, walk to the station, catch the 10:30am to Cheltenham and change for Stroud - arrive shortly before noon.  At Bristol Temple Meads we find that the Glasgow train (going to Cheltenham) is 15 minutes late.  But the London train is on time and with a change at Swindon we can get to Stroud a few minutes after noon.  Unfortunately at Chippenham we learn that some poor sod has decided to jump in front of a train between Didcot and Swindon...

Obviously this went on to deeply inconvenience me, which is neither here nor there.  More to the point, the poor train driver on the other hand, is probably going to be having nightmares for months.  Which sort of puts the train journey that morphs from one and a half hours into four and a half into perspective.

So, whilst I might be prone to criticise Unions for the chaos that has ensued in the the South East in recent months/years one needs to take into consideration the very real human consequences of the decisions they have to make.

Appropriately  illustrated I hope, by a pair of scary eyes  staring at you ...

TBH if you knew the whole story of the day you would be deeply impressed that I'd actually got the energy left to manage this shot .... it involved the tripod remote light  sources and a timer ...
