Life in Sunny Dubai

Wow. Today has been quite a day! Early start for a Saturday, we had to leave home by 9am to get to the OaSis meeting, but first, we collected some aloo parathas to take with us.

We met at our Pastor's house rather than church, so the whole morning had a very relaxed feel. We ended up being 12, and after eating our mid-morning breakfast, we sang some Christmas carols! It was brought to my attention that I was playing the "wrong" tune i.e. the traditional one. Being an American affiliated Church, a lot of the ladies were unfamiliar with the original tunes. Oh well. They sang heartily enough.

We finished with the Twelve Days of Christmas and the talk was about what the individual items actually meant. Fascinating. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a single picture of the morning. I shall try to obtain a decent group shot to post on here for posterity!

We were home for about an hour before having to head out again, this time for Afternoon tea with ex-colleagues! Fortunately, the venue was not far at all, and in a new place - the Palace Hotel Downtown where we got views of the Burj Khalifa.

I have never experienced an Afternoon tea done buffet style! It made so much sense!! You can take only what you want or like, as much as you like (more savoury than sweet), not waste anything and best of all, not over-eat! And to top it all off, there was a musician playing an electric harp. She entertained us very well with her very unique and clever arrangements of some well-known classics. We were totally chilled by the time we had to leave. We got treated too. What a day!

Had the time and energy to get ready for a new week...
